Be interested in your thoughts on this one, its an image that I started planning in PhotoPills about a year ago, just been waiting for the moon to be in the right place and with clear skies. It was taken over on Alney Island with a clear view of Gloucester cathedral in the distance about a kilometer away. I had managed to get a couple of single exposures images while the moon was initially rising but unfortunatly I was struggling to balance the light between the moon and the tower as it rose to the position I was after so ended up bracketing by 2 stops and merging the images in Photoshop. it was all over in about 15 minutes but its amazing how quick the light changes, ideally I would have liked to have a bit more ambient light but the sun had set 45 minutes earlier so its back to the planning stage I guess.
Taken at 340mm zoom with shutter speed 1/10 sec with an aperture of f11 to ensure the hyperfocus distance kept both the tower and moon in focus.
Cheers
Rob
A bit of a moon theme seems to be emerging this month. I like this image a lot and it sounds as if it took a lot of work to capture. I think this is a good one.
Well done Rob.
This is great, I've tried this over Tewkesbury abbey but not got anything nearly this good. I'm not sure about the black and white cathedral - i think it could do with warming up to complement the light coming from the moon.
