A popular and interactive evening, great for talking about photographs and photography. Members gather in small groups to discuss the highlights and lowlights of pictures submitted anonymously by other members. Please bring along some prints of any size (mounted or unmounted) for an evening of small-group friendly discussions and critique.

'My observational skills as a physician help me find those human moments. I am not aligned to the F8 school of street photography. I believe attention to depth of field, exposure and especially design of the whole frame make a good picture. Above all a picture that precipitates an emotional reaction in the viewer is a success. As photographers we need to dare to be different and express ourselves through our images.'

Photography and emotion go hand in hand.

'In this lecture, I will explain how I try to capture my emotions of the moment in a photograph. I will be showing a selection of my images to illustrate the various techniques that I have found helpful.

The lecture, which will begin with a short introduction of myself and how I got into photography, will take you on a light-hearted journey through my creative process, and should appeal to all levels of photographers, irrespective of their preference of subject matter.'

Scott Hurd, internationally known photographer and experienced presenter, aims to produce talks that are suitable for anyone who has an interest in photography, beginners through to the more experienced.  He aims to entertain as well as to inform and, from the feedback, he succeeds.  Expect a polished performance and maybe something a little bit different.

A Photospeed ambassador, Les is a hugely experienced photograher and printing expert who strongly believes that an image is not final until printed. In his new talk Les concentrates on Mobile Phone photography, worrying less about pixel numbers and more about the final result and the memories it invokes.

'I have been taking pictures for over forty years. My work has been mainly thematic, making images as a series. I have a relatively specific approach to what I choose to make pictures of, and I rely heavily on atmospherics, dramatic lighting and strong storylines to convey an individual style. A lot of my personal work is taken either in isolated places or of buildings and landscapes that are well past their ‘sell-by’ date. A lot of my work is monochrome, using both digital and darkroom processes, depending on the ‘feel’ I want from the finished print.'

A regular speaker on the subject of landscape photography to photographic societies, Sarah is the founder of 'Image Seen', which offers landscape photography workshops, holidays and tuition, set among some of the most breathtaking scenery in the UK & Europe. A frequent contributor to a number of photographic publications, Sarah is currently working on her second book, ‘Photographing the Cotswolds’ for the fotoVUE series. Sarah undertakes commissions and also supplies editorial & advertising imagery.

A key date in the CCC calendar is the students’ evening where we hear from local students and see their work which is sure to take us out of our camera club bubble. This year we will be treated to presentations by students from the University of Gloucestershire.

Hand-in Entries for Print Competition Round 4

Our annual club exhibition opens at the Gardens Gallery in Montpellier, Cheltenham and promises another outstanding display of work from our club members, and is completely free to view.

Always an enjoyable evening. Details kept as a surprise for the time being!

Jack makes a welcome return after his entertaining evening last season. Jack Boskett launched his photography business in 2010 at the age of 19, quickly gaining widespread recognition for his work in railway publications and literature, as well as for Train Operating Companies and Heritage Railways. His skill and versatility have also allowed him to capture iconic moments with prominent figures, including Prime Ministers, celebrities from stage and screen, and members of the Royal Family.
