Thanks all for your very helpful comments about this photo, as suggested I have applied a green filter which I feel brings out more detail, done a square crop to make the tree central, and flipped the tree, for some reason the 'antler' now gives a hint of a diagonal now it is on the right. I prefer the image now. Also the halo seems to have gone in the JPEG.

Hi Saul,
I think that's much better now. There are still some areas within the tree at top left that I feel are too bright. For a quick fix you could try just picking up the darker grey colour from the surround and painting it in at around 5-10% with a soft brush and see what it looks like. Then do more, or less and see what you think.
