This is a recent shot taken 10 minutes' walk from my house, I saw this scene on a walk and came back with my camera to capture it. I have put it here as I'm really unbiased as to whether it works or not, so all comments welcome!
I was initially drawn to the image because I liked the colour and shape of the tree and the contrast with the building. The way I have framed the building is inspired by Des's photo last month. Unfortunately the weather was so poor that I did not manage to get the shot with an interesting sky before the leaves began to look less impressive so I did what I could.
However, with hindsight a sunny day may have caused unwanted reflections on the building behind so maybe the overcast weather helped.
I like the general scene but pity about the sky. You could select the sky and try darkening to see if that works, If not, consider replacing the sky with on of your own. I capture skies from time to time just for that purpose.

Very glad to have given you inspiration :-) The sky is not helping, but as you say you're close so can wait for a better day. I'm not convinced by the composition though, I think a judge would say it's two images, a tree and a building - but there may be a better angle where there's much more of one than the other, e.g. show a letterbox of the bulding with a small section of the tree. I think the building looks like it's leaning back so needs the vertical tool to sort it out.
