Taken at Cheltenham General Hospital of all places - I was walking past and spotted all these bugs on a single leaf. The background annoys me a bit but it's nature so can't clone bits out or darken the background too much. More about documenting this unusual occurence. Even at f13 not all the bugs are sharp front to back but I didn't increase it as this would have made the background more prominent and I needed to keep the shutter speed to 1/400 or above due to wind blowing the tree. Could crop it all manner of ways but I quite like it with a bit of space either side. Interesting to know your thoughts.
I think the picture is perfectly fine - although I cannot really grasp this avoidance of post processing. Surely that only applies if a picture is being entered into one of the relevant competitions in the Nature category?? And clearly, nature's camoflage didn't work on you.
I agree John, the only reason I avoided post processing was I wanted to enter it for nature in the Annual Exhibition but now I know it's changed to one open section I can do what I want, and I tried some versions with varying degrees of darkening the background - but in the end they're all alternatives not necessarily better and the starting point image still holds up.
