I went to Pitville park on the one sunny day last week to capture either the Kingfisher or Otters but only saw this Heron. Unfortunately, the park is now an unpleasant place to visit with so many dogs running around. Many visitors have two or more dogs not on leads. Anyway the Heron posed nicely for me.
I share the same sentiments regarding Pittville - the number of out of control dogs has put me off attempting nature photography there these days - not because I have anything against dogs - more against poor ownership and I am concerned by the effect this seems to be having on the resident wildlife - I have heard stories of dogs eating duck and swan chicks in the lake, and I notice the birds in general seem less approachable than they were a few years ago. I have noticed however that the Heron seems unperturbed and I think you have captured a very nice image of it in its habitat. Rather than being a distraction I think all the branches give it a sense of place.
