This photo of a Coot was taken at the Coombe Hill Nature Reserve (canal almost dry). It is heavily cropped to remove the foreground grass bank. I have brightened the eyes slightly and removed the distracting light reflections from the background by filling it with the predominating blueish grey colour and adding a slight vignette to remove the ‘solid’ colour feel.
Excellent - really captures the character of the coot plus I think it's been well taken. I also like the diagonal.
