Meetings 2023-2024

The first summer pub outing of the year will be at the Norwood Arms, Leckhampton Rd, on Thursday June 13th. 7pm start. If the weather's good we'll be in the garden. The pub outings were a great success last year. Come along and mix with your fellow members. New, interested members very welcome.

In Search Of…

Bill Ward is a multi-award winning photographer and actor, born and raised in Newcastle-upon-Tyne, England. His primary photographic subject matter is landscapes, whether natural, urban or industrial.  He specialises in creative photography, and is particularly drawn to water. Constantly in search of peace and quiet, his photography is a response, and in many ways an antidote, to the time he spends as an actor working in the public eye.

This Thursday we’re back in the hall and are in for a real treat. Janice Clark ARPS, AFIAP, BPE3*, DPAGB, Linda Kirkhope EFIAP and Caroline Marsh will be showing some of their great work.  It’s sure to be an enjoyable evening, so please come along and support them. Janice recently scored a rare 15/15 in the MCPF Inter-club comp.

Every year we have a friendly battle against Cheltenham USA, based in Philadelphia. It’s a unique contest because the images are judged twice - by a UK judge at 7pm, then by a US judge at 11pm. 20 images per team from 20 different photographers. Is your picture in it?

I will take you from my first images in 2006/7 with a brief explanation of my health restrictions, which also impact on my photography. Despite these barriers, I learnt my distinctions, EFIAP, BPE 2 and LDPS. You will see the images that contributed to all the exhibition acceptances and hear some of the stories behind them and I will end with my CPAGB panel.

Drone photography.

Kate is a local Gloucestershire videographer, photographer and chair of the Tewkesbury YMCA Movie Makers. In this talk we will hear about her use of drones as a tool to produce documentary films and photographs, for display throughout the county. She will show us some of her photographs and films made using the drone. The rules, regulations and some tech specs surrounding her drones will also be included in this talk.

40 Years Worth!

It's partially retrospective, but there is a lot of previously unseen material in it and some very recent work as well, tracing the journey Leigh has made since he started club photography. There is a wide breadth of material from Landscape, Portraiture, reportage, still-life, street pictures, industrial, travel and a couple of themed pieces - one on abstract and one about specific location.
