GYP 2026 Results.
Our 22nd Gloucestershire Young Photographer competition attracted 916 entries from 48 primary and secondary schools across the County.
We would like to thank pupils for entering and the school representatives who undertook the entering and uploading of images. Entries were judged by Janice Clark, Martin Fry and Saul Scott. The judges were most impressed by the range of subject matter from plants to insects, from cities to wonderful landscapes. This made the judging challenging in selecting just 250 images for the show and finalising the winners.
The biggest change this year, was a new venue for the audio-visual showing of the selected works and award ceremony, The Bacon Theatre at Dean Close School. This venue providing fantastic large-scale projection facilities with wonderful sound enabled us to invite pupils with selected images as well as the Award winners.
500 pupils, parents and teachers filled the theatre, coming from as far as Dursley, Cirencester and Chipping Campden. In attendance was the Mayor of Cheltenham, Councillor Dr. David Willingham, Milan Dragojlovic, Chair of Cheltenham Round Table and Sue Silcock, Chair of Cheltenham Arys Council. Our congratulations go to all the award winners. The Best School Entry Cups were awarded to Gastrells Community Primary and Sir Thomas Rich’s School.
The competition is organised by Cheltenham Camera Club, and the supported by Cheltenham Arts Council and Cheltenham Round Table.
