Gloucestershire Young Photographer Competition 2026
Cheltenham Young Photographer Competition, supported by Cheltenham Round Table and Cheltenham Arts Council is open for entries to the 2026 Competition.
Full details of the Competition have been sent to all schools in Gloucestershire along with instructions on how to enter.
The Competition, now in its 22nd year, is open to pupils in Primary and Secondary Schools in Gloucestershire. First prize for the individual winner in both Primary and Secondary sections is £75, along with £50 for second and £25 for third places. Cups will be awarded for the BEST SCHOOL ENTRY in each section.
Each pupil may submit one titled digital image, either in colour or monochrome, with resolution of 1920px wide x 1200px high.
Key Dates:
Schools to register interest before 7th March 2026
Photos to school coordinator by 20th March 2026
School to upload entries to GYP by 29th March 2026
Judging 04th April 2026
Schools notified (winners) by 13th April 2026
Awards night at the Bacon Theatre Cheltenham on 29th April 2026
All winning images and all selected entries will be shown at the Audio-Visual Presentation at the Awards Evening at the Bacon Theatre Cheltenham on Wednesday 29th April as well as being sent to all Schools that have entered.

We were delighted to receive 1114 individual entries from a total of 68 schools. May we thank all School Representatives and other staff who have undertaken all the entering and uploading of entries for their pupils.
Cups and certificates were awarded for the OVERALL BEST SCHOOL ENTRY in each section as follows –
Best Small School entry was Southrop CofE Primary
Runner-Up Primary was Cheltenham College Prep School
Winner Primary was St Mark’s CofE Junior School for second year running
Runner-Up Secondary was Wycliffe College
Winner Secondary was Sir Thomas Rich’s School
